Linares calendar

Christmas is celebrated across the area on December 25. A good time to check businesses' and services' special opening hours in the directory before heading out for last-minute gifts.

January 1 kicks off a new year in Linares. Many businesses adjust their opening hours during the first week, so it's best to check before visiting.

Every May 23, Linares celebrates its founding anniversary, commemorating the creation of Villa San Ambrosio de Linares in 1794 by order of Governor Ambrosio O'Higgins. The Municipality usually organizes cultural events and tributes to the city's founders.

On September 18 and 19, Linares celebrates Chile's national holidays along with the rest of the country, with fondas and ramadas (festive food and dance tents) and traditional activities around town. It's a great time to visit restaurants and places serving traditional food.
