Women entrepreneurs in the province of Linares get guidance on formalizing their businesses

Monday, September 28, 2026

Women from several towns in the province of Linares took part in a session designed for those who want to go from an idea to a formal business. The event was organized by the Provincial Presidential Delegation together with Sercotec, Chile's technical cooperation service for small businesses, and covered topics such as registering a business with the tax office, formalization procedures and the support programs available to small companies.

The Sercotec Business Center in Linares was presented as the point of contact for anyone needing one-on-one support in that process, from sorting out tax questions to applying for development funds (Linares en Línea).

Formalizing a business also opens the door to getting known: a business that is properly registered and has clear contact details earns more trust from customers. If you run a small business in the area, you can add it to the Linares Conecta directory for free.

Linares primary care joins the national municipal health strike on September 29 and 30

Sunday, September 27, 2026

Anyone with an appointment at a CESFAM (family health center) or rural health post in Linares this Monday, September 29, or Tuesday, September 30, should keep in mind that the area's primary care network is joining the national strike called by the National Confederation of Municipal Health Workers. The measure affects the centers that serve some 95,000 registered patients in the area.

According to the local workers' association, skeleton crews will remain on both days to hand out food, milk and medicines, and to handle emergencies when needed. The union's demands include a higher per-capita contribution to fund primary care and payment of the Ministry of Health's long-standing debt to municipalities (Diario El Heraldo).

If you need care on those days, the safest thing is to confirm your appointment directly with your health center and, in an emergency, go to the emergency services. It may also help to check the pharmacies available in the area to restock medicines that don't require a visit to the clinic.

Camino La Empresa in Linares could be paved in October

Thursday, September 24, 2026

Residents north of the railway line in Linares are closer to seeing Camino La Empresa (route L-241) paved. The Roads Department of the Ministry of Public Works, working with the Municipality, has finished preparing the ground on a 420-meter stretch and has started laying around 700 cubic meters of granular base.

According to the regional Public Works office, the asphalt is scheduled to go down in October, which would connect the rural stretch with the urban part of the road, which until now was only partly paved (Linares en Línea).

While the works last, it's a good idea to drive carefully in the area and allow for possible detours. Once finished, access to homes and land in the area should improve considerably, something that people looking for property on the outskirts of the city will also appreciate.

More snowpack improves irrigation prospects for the farming season

Thursday, September 17, 2026

The province's farming sector got good news ahead of the coming season: water users in the Longaví Alto area expect better irrigation conditions this year, thanks to snow accumulation in the Andes that is noticeably higher than last season's.

Greater water availability during the irrigation months is a key factor for farmers in the Maule Region, who depend directly on the Andean snowmelt to water their crops through spring and summer (Diario El Heraldo).

News like this has a direct impact on the local economy of Linares and its surroundings, where a large share of businesses and services are connected in one way or another to farming in the area.
